Thank you to the brilliant artists who submitted their designs to be part of Shaun by the Sea 2023. Submissions are now closed. We are thrilled with the level of interest in being part of our trail.
Over 200 baa-artists sent us their plans for their very own ewe-nique sculpture. Our team are now working away to collate all the submissions ready for judging.
What happens next?
We will produce a shortlist of selected artists with the help of our art partners Enter Gallery and Phoenix Art Space. These designs will then be presented to our sponsors at a selection event in March. We will then announce the successful designs publicly later that month.
For those selected, the hard work of creating their Shaun then begins!
Artist Designs so far
We have already unveiled our first design, which was created by Sarah Arnett. Inspired by Regency Brighton & Hove, it is decorated in beautiful gold. We gave invited guests a first look at our launch event in September.

Ways you can get involved
Although our artist submission has now closed, you can still get involved in Shaun by the Sea.
Our deadline for schools, youth groups and community groups to design their own little Shaun was 16th January, but we are still accepting the final few submissions. If you know a school, nursery or youth group who want to get involved, please encourage them to visit our learners page. They will need to pay a £100 adoption fee to take part, and agree to take part in our flock fundraising challenge.
Businesses can join our flock by signing up to sponsor a Shaun. Sponsoring an individually-designed and painted Shaun the Sheep sculpture will provide you and your business with fantastic opportunities to increase customers, build your profile, engage with stakeholders and make your team proud.
