Martlets is hosting three workshops where attendees will be taught to make their own Shaun the Sheep model. It will be led by professional animator and model maker Jim Parkyn. Jim has worked for Aardman since 2000 and worked on projects including Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
The workshops are taking place as part of the Brighton Fringe. Tickets cost £15 per model (which includes the cost of the materials) and can be purchased on the Brighton Fringe website https://www.brightonfringe.org/events/shaun-the-sheep-model-making-workshop/.
David Phillips, Supporter Engagement Manager at Martlets said, “We are excited to offer this exclusive opportunity to learn from the animators who make Shaun come alive on the screen. It is a huge honour to have Jim from Aardman visit the city and share with attendees how to make their very-own Shaun model. Limited spaces are available at this event so don’t delay!”
Martlets hope to run model-making workshops later in the year as part of Shaun by the Sea which will be led by volunteers. If you would be interested in being trained by Aardman to lead workshops in schools and community groups, you can apply at https://mrecruit.ciphr-irecruit.com/Applicants/vacancy/3730/Model-Making-Volunteer
Shaun by the Sea takes place this autumn from 9 September to 5 November. The event is raising funds for Martlets Hospice, a local charity which provides life-changing hospice care to people living through terminal illness in Brighton and Hove, the Deans and the Havens.
Aardman Model Maker Jim Parkyn added, “We are delighted to be taking our Aardman model-making workshops to Brighton to support Martlets and Shaun by the Sea. Our workshops give visitors the opportunity to take part in fun, hands-on sessions and craft their very own Shaun models, all whilst learning some of the secrets behind how we bring stories to life at Aardman.”
