About Shaun by the Sea
Martlets teamed up with Wild in Art and Aardman to stage the biggest ever mass-participation, public art event in the city – Shaun by the Sea.
‘Shaun by the Sea’ featured 42 individually designed Shaun the Sheep sculptures and 1 book bench that was installed throughout the city for 8 weeks. Alongside this, 77 little Shauns created by schools, nurseries, community groups and care homes were also be displayed. The trail of big and little Shauns covered the whole of the community which Martlets serves, and the bold, brave and colourful designs shined a light on the life-changing impact of hospice care.
Each of the Shauns has been sponsored by local businesses and organisations, creating strong relationships between Martlets and the business community.
