Get ready to bid!

Our Shauns had a baa-rilliant time in their locations across Brighton & Hove. They’ve now entered hibernation as they prepare to be auctioned to raise vital funds for Martlets Hospice, so we can keep caring for people facing the toughest of times.

When: Monday 27 November
Where: Corn Exchange, Brighton
Time: From 6.30pm

If you would like to give a home to one of our flock, come along and make a bid. Tickets to our auction cost £20. On arrival there will be welcome drinks and canapes will be served.

Due to high demand to attend in person, space will be limited, so we ask only serious bidders to register their interest in attending. We anticipate bidding will start at £3,000 for each sculpture.

To register your interest in attending, please email shaunbythesea@martlets.org.uk or buy your tickets at the button below.

Will the little Shauns be available to bid?

Only our large sculptures will be made available at auction. There are two additional little Shaun lots that will be available.

Can I preview the lots in person?

You can preview the auction lots at our Farewell Weekend between the 24th and 26th November at the Brighton Centre. Alternatively, if you are interested in bidding at auction and would like to preview lots, please contact shaunbythesea@martlets.org.uk

We will have live bidding alongside the auction in the room, kindly provided by BidLogix. You can register to bid online here

Who can attend the auction?

All interested bidders aged 18+ are welcome to our auction. Due to high demand to attend in person, space will be limited, so we ask only serious bidders to register their interest in attending. We anticipate bidding will start at £3,000 for each sculpture. For families, or for people who are not able to bid but are interested in seeing our Shauns, we advise that the farewell weekend is more suitable. The auction will be live streamed on our Facebook Page so you can see how well your favourite Shaun does at auction.

How do I bid?

If you wish to bid on a Shaun, you will need to indicate that you want a paddle when buying your ticket. This will make the process easier on the night. If you don’t plan to make a bid but change your mind on the night, that’s okay too! Asking for a paddle doesn’t compel you to place a bid.

How much will the Shauns be sold for?

We anticipate that the average price of our Shauns will be around £3,000. At our Snailspace Auction, the highest lot sold for £12,000.

Can I buy a blank sculpture?

One of our lots features the chance to commission a blank Shaun. Visit our auction catalogue for more details by clicking here
